Halbzeit Dirty Thirty // 3. Session

30K Challenge

Half-time and Christmas break in the „Dirty Thirty“ Challenge. Despite the soft and hard LockDown, three quite even rounds brought 35 clubs from Germany, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Austria, a total of 326 (134 female / 192 times) loyal rowers to the ergometers. In this round I am pleased that with Maria DORN and Ernst GUGGLER two PR3 athletes have found their way to the 30K Challenge.

However, I would like to emphesize one individual achievement in this round. Thomas R. could not row after a shoulder injury and already has his surgery appointment. Without further ado, he took a lashing strap, wrapped it in an eight around his chest and lashed the end with the handle so that his hands only had to hold it up. The Concept2 lifted on the slides and so a 30 minute unit „Legs only“ was done over 7534 Meter ==> RESPECT.

Team ranking:
Undisputed leader LIA Wien. It is remarkable how Hans KÜNG repeatedly manages to get rowers of all ages to do the 30 minutes. The success proves him right. Team cox Margarethe HINTZ from RC GRAZ achieved another well-attended round and thus secured second place. The RV Priem team under Eszter HAUER had a long hard LockDown in Germany, but remained in 3rd place. Team Law Enforcement was able to make up places with its best lap result and moved up to 4th place.

Finally, QUERFELD Ferdinand gave a Christmas performance over the marathon distance of 42,195 meters and achieved new Austrian record in the men’s class heavyweight.
